SummaryAn intra-regional perspective, in addition to its interregional one would enhance the conclusions of-the RICAP study about the impact of the CAP on specific regional product lines, farm sizes, and structures of production. Rising rates of regional output concentration are not the same as regional specialisation according to comparative advantage. Hence it is difficult to agree that the CAP has boosted regional development in accordance with trends that existed before its formation. Had the study attempted to differentiate the impact of the different types of support policies for the various product sectors upon the different types of regional structures described, it could have made a significant contribution towards the idea of regionally differentiated EC price support policies in agriculture.
