Nitrogen heterocycles are prepared using hot pressurized water under microwave and thermal conditions. Selective reduction, cyclodehydrations (Friedländer and Pfitzinger syntheses), Suzuki coupling, and ligand exchange have been effected in water or waterâ protic solvent media.
