| dc.description | There is a notorious typology of ‘conceptions of nationhood’, which opposes ‘ethnocultural’ conceptions to political or ‘civic’ conceptions of nationhood. Analytically, the typology is unsatisfactory, as are its normative and explanatory applications. A more multidimensional analysis of elements of national identity is proposed, which clarifies some possible meanings of ‘ethnic’, ‘cultural’ and ‘political’ in this context. These considerations are then applied to the case of German national identity. |
| dc.description | Il existe une typologie bien connue des formes la nationalité qui oppose les conceptions «ethno-culturelles» aux conceptions de type politique ou civique. Dʼun point de vue analytique, cette typologie est peu satisfaisante de même que les applications normatives ou explicatives qui peuvent en être faites. Nous proposons plutôt une analyse multidimensionnelle des élements de lʼidentité nationale qui permet dʼélucider les concepts dʼ«ethnicité»,de«culture» et de «politique». Nous appliquons ensuite ce schéma à lʼidentité nationale allemande. |
| dc.description | Die bekannte Typologie der Staatsangehörigkeit führt dazu, dass ethnokulturelle Formen zivilen oder politischen Formen gegenübergestellt werden. Analytisch gesehen, ist diese Art von Typologie wenig zufriedenstellend, ebenso wenig wie normative oder erklärende Anwendungsformen. Wir schlagen vielmehr eine mehrdimensionale Untersuchung der nationalen Identität vor, die Konzepte wie ethnische Zugehörigkeit, Kultur und Politik erklären hilft. Wir wenden im Anschluss dieses Schema auf die deutsche nationale Identität an. |
