| dc.description | The procedure of McCavert and Rudge (1970) is extended to the case of proton-helium collisions and applied to the problem of calculating excitation cross sections from the ground state to the 2<sup>1</sup>P, 3<sup>1</sup>P, 4<sup>1</sup>P and 5<sup>1</sup>P states. It is found that the method gives cross section results which are substantially in agreement with experimental data over a wide energy range. Polarization fractions are also calculated and, in common with other theoretical treatments, are found to disagree with experimental values. |
