A range of lithium-drifted silicon radiation detectors is described. Areas up to 8 cm<sup>2</sup> and thicknesses up to 0.6 cm have been achieved. At - 20°C, a resolution of 8 kev full width half maximum was obtained on 661 kev beta particles using a 1 cm<sup>2</sup> detector 0.1 cm thick. The performance of the detectors is discussed in relation to other device parameters.
