We develop explicit criteria for the occurrence of a tertiary Hopf bifurcation, and stability of the bifurcating orbits, in a special class of two-parameter systems of ordinary differential equations. We use these results to discuss tertiary Hopf and torus bifurcations in some bifurcation problems with symmetries such as steady-state-Hopf and Hopf-Hopf interaction problems.
