This paper deals with some hitherto unpublished information on the events leading up to the killing of Jakob Marengo by the British, and the manner of his death, on the 20 September 1907. This is discussed in the context of Marengo's role in the 1903–7 Nama uprising in what was then German South West Africa, and his place in the historiography of the colonial resistance movement of Namibia.
