ABSTRACTDissolution of bitumen concentrate derived from Utah tar sand by hot-water separation was studied in a stirred-tank reactor. The dissolution constitutes an important step in the bitumen concentrate clean-up process. A dimensional analysis was performed for the system which was utilized to construct a number of bitumen concentrate dissolution maps from the experimental data.
