AbstractIn order to explore the possibilities of improving the Danish Red (RDM) genes was imported from the Swedish Red and White (SRB), Finnish Ayrshire (FA) and Dutch Red and White (MRY). The meat production traits were recorded at 10 male progenies per exotic sire and at 5–6 male progenies per F1 young bulls. The MRY crossbred progenies exceeded the RDM reference groups by 25–36 g daily carcass gain and consumed 0.2–0.5 less FU per kg carcass gain. All of the crossbred groups had a smaller area of the long. dorsi muscle than the RDM. The FA crossing resulted in a decrease in the dressing percentage, the conformation score, and the lean: bone ratio. The SRB crossing resulted in a decrease of the dressing percentage and in an increase of the conformation score. All crossbred groups had a less tender meat than the RDM groups, and the SRB- and FA-crossbreds had a more pale and fatty meat.
