The behavior of boiling bubbles on a heating surface made of transparent quartz, glass is observed directly from Us back side. The surface is heated by a fused salt that is transparent at high temperature. Freon R-11 and R-113 are used as the boiling liquids. In transition boiling, dry parts of bubbles contacting the heating surface develop into larger vapor films with increasing superheat of the surface. Vapor film patches appear repeatedly in a short period. The behavior of bubbles and vapor films is different from that in nucleate boiling and in film boiling.
