The advent of the "information age" and computer communications offer both opportunities and challenges. Extension and the National Agricultural Library (NAL) have a mandate to provide and disseminate educational information in agricultural and social sciences. In 4-H/Youth Development information in the form of programs and curricula is extensive and, like many youth serving organizations, sometimes redundant and of varying quality. Collaborations between states, universities and institutions like the Extension Service and NAL, forged through the power and flexibility of electronic communications can improve that situation and make the mission of the Land-Grant system as pertinent and powerful tomorrow as it ever has been. A cooperative effort between Extension and NAL to provide relevant and critical information for youth and family development is working to do just that.
