A 1990 national survey of professionals whose job required a knowledge of aging employed in all SUAs and a random sample of AAAs (81% response rate) revealed that the majority were female, 13.5% were ethnic minorities, and that their formal education exceeded the requirements for initial employment. Level of job was associated with level of college degree and salary level. Comparisons are made with data from 1976, 1984 and 1987. Implications for gerontological program development and student recruitment are discussed. |
