AbstractIn this study, W. Edwards Deming's management philosophy was examined for its adaptability to higher education institutions. Triangulation, or the use of multiple methods, was utilised to formulate valid propositions and reveal different aspects of the empirical reality. The study created three sources of data:1. quantitative findings from 44 items listed on a research questionnaire;2. qualitative findings from two open‐ended questions on the questionnaire;3. qualitative findings from a thematic analysis of the related literature.Comparisons of the triangulation results revealed five major Deming themes adaptable to higher education: purpose, co‐operative systems, improvement, leadership, and methods‐processes. Limitations are primarly focused on establishing meaningful systemic change.
