| dc.description | The purpose of the study was to investigate the relationship among four selected dimensions of the self-concept and three self-concept tests for preschool children. Forty subjects between the ages of 48 and 60 months were tested on separate measures of physical skill, physical appearance, intelligence, cooperation and three self-concept tests for preschool children: The Thomas Self-Concept Values Test, The Pre-School Self-Concept Picture Test and The Purdue Self-Concept Scale for Pre-School Children. Three statistical methods were chosen for the analysis of the data: the Pearson Product Moment Coefficient of Correlation, Multiple Regression Analysis and Factor Analysis. All analyses indicated that there was a relationship for all subjects between gender and the Thomas Self-Concept Values Test. The factor analysis revealed three clusters: (1) intelligence and the Purdue Self-Concept Scale for Pre-School Children for male subjects; (2) physical skill, age, the Thomas Self-Concept Values Test and the Purdue Self-Concept Scale for Pre-School Children for male subjects; and (3) cooperation and the Pre-School Self-Concept Picture Test for female subjects. |
