dc.description An objective method for assessing the quality of snack selections was developed which considers fiber, sodium and cholesterol content as well as nutrient density. The method was used to assess the snacking behavior of fifth and sixth grade students in upstate New York. Although mean snack scores were low, snacks selected at home were better than those selected when away from home.
