Various institutions (other than tertiary institutions) should increasingly become involved in the training of South African journalists, especially with the establishment of new media in mind. These institutions include, among others, community newspapers, larger national newspapers and private companies. The suggestion is also made that journalists, media managements and the education institutions in the country should start working together to ensure that the training being offered in the country is appropriate and serves the needs of the industry and the country as a whole. |
