SummaryIn recent years, behaviour modification techniques have come to play a significant role in the range of management and teaching strategies employed in educational settings. Many of the problems which arise when introducing and implementing these techniques in the ordinary school setting have not been adequately discussed in the literature. This paper discusses some of the possible difficulties and suggests some solutions. Three areas are of particular concern: the training of the teachers involved, the question of teacher attitudes and motivation in relation to a behaviour modification approach, and the impact of school organizational and administrative structure.
