AbstractIn this brief note I am concerned with the analysis of one adverbial construction in Swedish, and I am restricting the data to one particular adverb, gärna, ‘willingly’. I shall point out its rather unique features and present an analysis which satisfactorily explains its function and which accounts for the surface distributional characteristics of this item.
