| dc.description | Supervision plans are a relatively new procedure in clinical supervision. This paper describes the purpose, development and implementation of goal-directed supervision plans. These plans were used to evaluate two aspects of supervision with 26 doctoral level psychology trainees during their first year of practicum: (1) the types of clinical needs/goals, and (2) the clinical progress toward these goals. The results indicated that trainees report positive improvements toward their three most important goals over a 10-month period. The three most important clinical needs/goals for first year practisum trainees were conceptual models and therapy skills, diagnosis and treatment planning, and personal and professional issues. Qualitative interviews were conducted with 8 trainees to explore what types of supervision strategies were most helpful in meeting their goals. |
