Despite increased attention given network analysis to examine the personal support systems of individuals. the current methodology fails to identify supportive resources provided by a specific network member. In an attempt to better understand these supportive provisions, this paper reviews previous work in the area and then describes and illustrates a method of differentiating supportive functions among network members within a pilot study. The paper also discusses the clinical implications for better understanding the nature of support provided through different social relationships. |
