| dc.description | Librarians have met the challenge of reduced funding by seeking "cost-effective" methods of collection management analysis: new ways to decide which subscriptions to cancel. Such methods are faulty and will eventually put researchers at a great disadvantage compared to those using libraries that have adequate funding. Library resources are essential to progress. Librarians are encouraged to advocate better funding based on libraries' importance to research and development and their place in the economy. |
