AbstractThe manuscript, apparently by Huguette A., which is reproduced here, purports to give an account of a seminar paper on Jorge Luis Borges’ essay ‘Pierre Menard, Author of the Quixote’ by George Lewis. Lewis, himself obsessed by textual reduplications and reconstructions, presents various readings of the Borges essay and then produces his own which supports the ‘Spinozism’ of Menard. However, the manuscript could, perhaps, be read as une lettre d'amour as well as an Amor intellectualis Dei.
