AbstractDisc-shaped pellicles 15 microns thick are antireflection coated and cemented to the polished ends of optical fiber connectors. Excess loss due to increased fiber separation is a maximum of 10% (.46 dB), typically 3.8% (.16 dB) in graded index fibers; Fresnel back-reflections are reduced by a factor of more than 10. |
