From the late 1970s to the present, many changes have been taking place in the environment impacting accounting service firms as well as in their increasing orientation to the marketing concept. It is the purpose of this study to examine the historical changes in the profile of accounting service users. What has emerged most clearly from this historical analysis is the critical importance of the amount of taxes and of the achievement of at least some college education as predictors of the amount of spending.
