The authors compare the use of dummy variable and traditional multiple discriminant function analysis when dealing with research questions where ratio or nominai scale independen? variables can be used. A healthcare-related example of using dv MDF is given and the authors conclude that it is superior to traditional MDF for determining variable importance and developing market segment profiles.
